About Us
Our purpose at Child and Adolescent Behavioral Supports, LLC is to help children, adolescents and families address challenging behaviors by developing more effective ways to manage the stressors of life, resolve problems and conflicts, and build healthy relationships with others.
We work closely with family members to improve interactions and communication with one another by providing support and services that promote empathy, understanding, self-awareness, and positive behavioral skills. It is our belief that families can move through even the most difficult circumstances with deeper, stronger connections and a renewed sense of dignity and hope.

Therapists
Jon Smith, MA, MS, LPC
Jon has over 30 years of experience working with children and teenagers who have struggled with a variety of mental health, developmental, and behavioral challenges. He has Master’s degrees in both special education and clinical/counseling psychology, is a licensed professional counselor, and has accumulated hundreds of additional hours in specialized trainings. For the past two decades, Jon has worked as an educator and behavior specialist, providing support and consultation to parents, children, teens, and teachers. He is also a presenter of trainings for families and professionals at the local, national, and international level. Not only does he draw from his diverse experiences in schools, residential centers, recreation programs, and mental health treatment facilities, but also from his personal experience as a husband of over twenty years and a father of three children.
Outside of work, Jon tries to keep his life in balance through mountain biking, skiing, tennis, rock climbing, traveling, church involvement, and community volunteering.
Nancy Townsend, PhD
As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Nancy Townsend has supported children, teens, adults, and families in a wide range of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, private practice, schools, and public agencies. The diversity of her experiences and the range of issues she has helped address have given her a wealth of practical and effective ideas for tackling even the most challenging of problems. Nancy believes in taking a pragmatic, solution focused approach toward helping people improve the quality of their lives. She also believes that any problem has a set of solutions that can be discovered through a combination of compassion, thoughtfulness, and persistence.
Nancy is the mother of twins. She enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, and painting.

Marika Quinn, MSW, LCSW
Marika received her Masters of Social Work from University of New England and later followed up with obtaining her license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Colorado. Marika has worked with both children and adolescents for 10 years. She has worked in multiple settings, which include, adolescent juvenile courts and residential facilities, sexual abuse within children and adolescents, adolescent Human Trafficking and, currently, high school social work in Douglas County School District. Marika uses a variety of modalities, such as CBT, Trauma-
Focused, and Solution Focused practices, when working with clients. She feels it is important to build a strong rapport with the client and use a modality that fits their personality and situation. Not one size fits all. Marika is also currently working on obtaining her certification to practice
EMDR therapy, an effective approach to those who have experienced trauma. Being someone who has overcome trauma herself, Marika wants to help others achieve the same, for their well-being and healing, with empathy and care.
Outside of work, Marika enjoys staying active, traveling, time with friends and family, reading and building endless amounts of Legos with her son and husband.
Keith Sousa, MA, CAS
With an approach rooted in cognitive behavior therapy, Keith has brought his solution-focused expertise to a variety of settings for over twenty years. These settings include: individual counseling, family coaching, school psychology/ behavior intervention, and organizational consultation. Keith’s approach has guided people of all ages to move towards their personal goals and to meet them with greater success. As lead behavior specialist for one of the largest school systems in Colorado, school psychologist (serving ages pre-K through 21), adjunct professor and state level consultant, and therapist, Keith is able to bring a variety of practical, theoretical, and empathetic qualities in order to support others.
Keith is a father of three wonderful children, a prolific musician, world traveler, tennis enthusiast, and a lifelong learner.
Michael Travis, MA, LPC
Michael has over 15 years’ experience working with children and adolescents as an educator. Whilst Michael loved teaching, he was drawn to supporting the whole child and now works as a school counselor in the Douglas County School District. With a master’s degree in Counseling Education, he believes in creating a safe place for youth to express themselves without judgment or fear. Michael does not believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy, instead tailors the therapy to the individual child and their unique needs. He is trained in a variety of therapies and pulls from CBT, DBT, attachment and creative therapies along with mindfulness.
When Michael is not working, you will find him cycling the many beautiful Colorado roads, and spending time with his family and friends.
Kathy Lau, MSW, LCSW
Kathy has been working with children, adolescents, and adults for over 25 years. She has practiced in the hospital, clinical, and school settings with those who struggle with a variety of mental health concerns and behavioral challenges. She holds a Master’s degree in social work and an undergraduate degree in Recreational Therapy. As a licensed social worker, she strives to stay culturally informed and current with relevant and evidenced-based interventions through ongoing specialized training. After 20 years of hospital work, Kathy transitioned into the school setting where she has been part of the Douglas County School District Behavior Team for the past 10 years providing support and consultation to educators, parents, and students. Her years of experience as a therapist, wife, and mother of three provide a rich bank of practical and effective ideas for managing life’s challenges. Using a combined experience of education, creativity, and sense of humor, she believes that therapy is a complex endeavor that requires authentic caring without judgment, and works collaboratively with clients to establish treatment goals and the action steps to reach them.
To get the most out of life, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, skiing, traveling, hiking, listening to music, staying active in church, and volunteering in the community.
Megan Basak, MSW, LCSW
Working with children and adolescents in various capacities has been a passion of Megan’s since she was a teenager. Megan graduated with a master’s degree in Social Work in 2007 with a certificate in Trauma therapy. With over 15 years of experience as a school social worker and behavior specialist working with children, adolescents, and families she is excited to bring her work experience into the clinical setting. Megan believes in supporting the whole child which includes understanding their experiences within the context of larger systems. All people have the capacity to be their best version of themselves with a little extra support which is why Megan decided to enter the clinical world. Megan is a proponent of solution focused therapy through a variety of modalities such as: CBT, DBT, and executive functioning coaching.
Megan is the mother of two children who enjoys spending as much time outside as possible with her family. When not navigating the role of mom she loves reading, crafting, and spending time with friends.
Erin Grell, PhD
Erin earned her PhD in school psychology from the University of Denver. She has been a practicing licensed school psychologist in the Denver metro area for 10 years and is working towards State of Colorado Psychologist licensure (anticipated Fall 2022). She emphasizes a strengths-based, highly collaborative approach to promote improved functioning across all domains of a client’s life. Erin believes strongly in evidence-based practice and interventions tailored to individual needs. She has particular expertise in psychological and psycho-educational assessment as well as supporting children with significant behavioral needs.
Outside of work, Erin spends much of her time chasing around her two young children and many pets. She is also an avid runner and reader.
Hannah Oudekerk, MSW, LSW
Originally from Minnesota, Hannah earned her Bachelor degree in Social Work and Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Upon graduation, she worked as a Registered Behavior Technician practicing Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy for children and adolescents on the autism spectrum between the ages of 18-months to 18-years. Hannah pursued her Master’s degree at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work where she graduated with a concentration in Mental Health. Hannah was previously employed at Douglas County School District where she worked as a school social worker for middle schools. Currently, Hannah also works at an in-patient psychiatric hospital for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Through her experience in a variety of settings, Hannah believes that getting to the root of problems involves a collaborative, trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that emphasizes the individuality of each client. She does this by forming therapeutic rapport and alliance with clients which she considers essential for successful therapy by utilizing unconditional positive regard. She pulls from a variety of evidence-based practice methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness and more to provide a comprehensive approach to a wide variety of challenges. Hannah strives to ensure an inclusive and safe environment for clients to be themselves without fear of judgment. She recognizes the importance of staying current and culturally-informed through ongoing specialized training and considers herself a lifelong learner. In her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time with family, friends and her two cats. She loves to read, bike, play pickleball, snowboard in the winter and stay active.
